CHRISTIANS CANNOT VOTE

IN WORLDLY ELECTIONS

Ephesians 2:12-19 We are now “aliens and strangers” from all worldly governments and are “fellowcitizens of the household of God”

2 Cor 5:20 “We are ambassadors for Christ;” we live in one country but represents another.

We must represent our own “country” (Heb 11:16), The Kingdom of God.

For Fuller Explanation see “Newspaper Ads” at: www.TheNewWorldOrder.org

Our Premise:

We are citizens of heaven, of that future Kingdom of God, and ambassadors of this Kingdom to the USA (or whatever country we happen to be from). Here we are ‘resident foreigners’ [or alien residents]. We like Abraham of old, as foreigners, strangers, and pilgrims await our master Jesus Christ to return to the earth and establish The Kingdom of God [also called the Kingdom of Israel] over the entire earth. This Kingdom of God, will be a ‘heavenly country’ and will have a city whose builder and maker is God. If we are found acceptable after the judgment seat of Christ, we will assist Christ at Armageddon in overthrowing all existing worldly governments and establishing God’s Kingdom on the earth. This world wide Government will be a Theocracy. It will be ruled by Jesus Christ and his assistants, and is called in scriptures, “The Kingdom of God.”

We Will Consider Three Reasons Why Christians Should Not Vote

1. “Our Citizenship is in Heaven” (Philippians 3:20); It is not with any earthly government, of which we are “aliens and strangers” (Eph 2:12).

2. God Himself is overseeing the nations of men (Dan 4:17), and is bringing them to Armageddon (Rev 16:16) where He will subdue them and establish His Kingdom over the entire earth in their stead.

3. Jesus Christ told us to look and pray for the time when God’s Kingdom would be established on the earth [The Lord’s Prayer].

A. God Himself promised it

B. The Condition Of The Earth In The Kingdom Of God [Isaiah 11:4-9]

C. Conclusion

Reason # 1

“Our Citizenship is in Heaven” (Philippians 3:20), not with any earthly government of which we are “aliens and strangers” (Eph 2:12).

Ephesians 2:12 That at that time [before baptism into Christ] ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ…19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

“Aliens” – belonging to another country or people; foreign [Webster’s]

“Stranger” – foreigner, alien [Strong’s Concordance]

“Foreigner” – alien resident [Strong’s Concordance]

“Fellowcitizens” – possessing the same citizenship with others, a fellow citizen [Strong’s Concordance]

2 Cor 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

“Ambassador” – the highest-ranking diplomatic representative appointed by one country

or government to represent it in another (Webster’s).

Heb 11:9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God…13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.

“Stranger” – foreigner, alien [Strong’s Concordance]

“pilgrim” an alien alongside, i.e. a resident foreigner [Strong’s Concordance]

Abraham, the father of the faithful, is our example. He sojourned throughout his life as a stranger and pilgrim in a strange country, in faith waiting for and seeking that heavenly country, the Kingdom of God which he, if faithful, would be resurrected to receive.

Phil 3: 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

“conversation” as used here according to Strong’s is “politeuma” and means, 1) the administration of civil affairs or of a commonwealth. 2) the constitution of a commonwealth, form of government and the laws by which it is administered…3a) the commonwealth of citizens.

It is translated as citizenship in other versions, including the American Standard Version – “For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ”

1 Pet 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.

Here “strangers” is taken from the Greek word “paroikos” and according to Strong’s means among other things, “, a stranger, a foreigner, one who lives in a place without the right of citizenship”

“pilgrim” is taken from the Greek word, “parepidemos” and according to Strong’s, means among other things. 1) one who comes from a foreign country into a city or land to reside there by the side of the natives.

Thus, although we live in a particular country under their laws, our true “citizenship” is in heaven, and so we are in reality a foreigner who lives in our present country without right of citizenship – since our real citizenship is in heaven.

We are strangers (foreigners) and pilgrims in this world and await the Kingdom of God, of which we are fellow-citizens (1 Pet. 2:11; Phil. 3:20)

By voting a political candidate is assisted to power in the kingdoms of this world. But the Kingdom of God is soon to destroy and replace the governments of this world. How can brethren of Christ consistently vote into power those whom Christ and his brethren will soon put down?

One of the characteristics of the early ecclesia was its abstention from politics. Corruption in this respect was rife in the days of Constantine [about 312 AD] when Christians joined his forces as well as his government in the fight against paganism. [Preparing for Baptism]

Reason # 2

God Himself is overseeing the nations of men (Dan 4:17), and is bringing them to Armageddon (Rev 16:16) where He will subdue them and establish His Kingdom over the entire earth in their stead.

Dan 4:17 “The Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the lowest of men.”(ASV)

Re 16:16 “And He [God] gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”

Zech 14:2 “For I [God] will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle.”

Notice that God “gathered them”. He is overseeing and directing the events on the earth even now, as surely as He brought the Jews upon the Canaanites under Joshua, and Nebuchadnezzar upon the Jews.

It is God’s plan to reveal Himself to Mankind, and to establish His Kingdom, “The Kingdom of God” on the earth.

Reason # 3

Jesus Commanded Us To Pray For This

MAT 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. MAT 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

God Himself promised it.

Isaiah 11:9 “for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”

Zec 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

The Conditions Of The Earth In The Kingdom Of God

Isa 11: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Conclusion:

We are citizens of heaven, of that future Kingdom of God, and ambassadors of this Kingdom to the USA (or whatever country we happen to be from). Here we are ‘resident foreigners’ [or alien residents]. We, like Abraham of old, as foreigners, strangers, and pilgrims await our master Jesus Christ to return to the earth and establish The Kingdom of God [also called the Kingdom of Israel] over the entire earth. If we are found acceptable after the judgment seat of Christ, we will assist Christ at Armageddon in overthrowing all existing worldly governments and establishing God’s Kingdom on the earth. This Government will be a Theocracy, and is called in scripture, “The Kingdom of God.” With God’s Laws enjoined upon all of mankind on the earth, righteousness, peace, and joy will finally come to the earth.
